Kōwhai provides advice and assistance in the development of education programmes for Māori.
Kōwhai Consulting has developed a suite of tertiary level Programmes which are delivered through Te Wananga o Aotearoa, including Certificate, Diploma and Degree level programmes. These programmes include a Bachelor of Iwi Environmental Management, Diploma in Iwi Environmental Management, Certificate in Eco Cultural Tourism, and Environmental Foundation Certificate.
Staff at Kōwhai Consulting are experienced in programme and curriculum development, programme delivery and the NZQA accreditation process. Kōwhai has provided consulting services to a range of education organisations in the secondary and tertiary sectors; with a particular focus on successful models for Māori Education.
Moko Club provides early childhood education for children in at-risk communities, where the children participation rate is significantly lower than the national average. Kowhai established Moko Club with the vision to provide an environment that is fun, builds children's skills and confidence and prepares them for primary school. The Moko Club philosophy is to incorporate Maori culture and language in a non-threatening environment combined with fun learning appeals to families that are non-Maori speaking.
Moko Club is being delivered in areas where there are social and behavioural challenges, including low incomes and/or poverty. Other ECE providers find it difficult to cater to this demographic because it is challenging to engage, and it is not economically viable. Moko Club aims to take account of and respond to this context.
